Give frequently used rooms their own schedule
Radiator controls let you set different routines for rooms used at different times. Start with rooms where the schedule changes, rather than assuming every radiator needs an immediate replacement. Savings depend on the building, heating system and previous habits.

Check the valve before choosing the kit
Thermostat X replaces a compatible thermostatic radiator head. Its standard connection is M30 × 1.5 mm, with adapters for other supported valves. Use the manufacturer’s compatibility check against the actual valve, not just a photograph of the radiator.
A manual valve or electric radiator may need a different solution. Keep curtains and furniture clear of the temperature-sensing area. An optional room sensor can be useful where the radiator’s position gives an unrepresentative reading.
Thread connects the controls to the home
The thermostats use Matter over Thread. Bridge X supplies the border-router connection for this starter kit and joins the home Wi-Fi network. Matter support does not mean every platform exposes every tado feature.
X devices are not compatible with V3+ or older tado systems. If you also want radiators to request heat from the boiler, check the additional heating-control hardware required. This kit alone does not replace a central boiler controller.
Separate schedules from paid automation
Standard controls and schedules cover a predictable routine. AI Assist is an optional subscription for functions such as automatic geolocation and automatic open-window response. Review the current feature list rather than assuming every advertised automation comes free.
Stored schedules and manual control can continue offline, while remote app access needs connectivity. Keep a simple schedule that still makes sense without the optional automation. No fixed reduction in energy use is guaranteed for your home.
Plan for charging as well as installation
The removable battery pack charges by USB-C. Manufacturer support says charging can take two to five hours and advises against Apple’s 20 W USB-C adapter for this pack. Follow its charging guidance rather than relying on a universal-compatibility claim.
The thermostat cannot make new adjustments while its battery is removed. Charge before the heating season and monitor the battery state. This kit suits households prepared to manage those small tasks in exchange for more flexible room schedules.
