Ring Battery Doorbell Plus: a clearer view of the doorstep

Check where a doorbell can see approaching visitors and parcels without the view being blocked by a recess, gate or open door. The square image is useful for seeing more of the doorstep vertically. Test the angle before committing to the mounting position.

Enhanced zoom enlarges the captured picture; it is not an optical lens moving closer. Detail still depends on distance, lighting and the quality of the connection.

The newer Plus supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. Check reception at the actual mounting spot, particularly through brickwork or metal doors. A good connection elsewhere in the home does not prove the doorway has enough coverage.

Ring recommends at least 10Mbps upload for its 2K devices. Leave margin for other household traffic and check live video after installation. Strong local Wi-Fi and adequate internet upload both matter.

Basic functions remain available without a subscription, but stored video and some advanced notifications require a paid plan. Decide whether your main need is answering visitors live or reviewing what happened while you were away.

Check the current plan terms for your address and account. An included trial is temporary, and advertised video-history limits depend on the plan and settings. Do not assume buying the hardware provides permanent recording storage.

The quick-release pack can be removed for charging. Choose a mounting position you can reach safely, and expect the doorbell to be unavailable while its only battery is out. A spare battery is an additional purchase.

Existing compatible wiring can maintain the charge, but it is optional. Have the transformer and wiring checked against Ring’s requirements before connecting them; a matching-looking doorbell circuit is not enough.

Adjust motion zones to the area that matters, and use privacy zones where parts of the image should be obscured. Review alerts after a few normal days instead of leaving an overly broad detection area untouched.

Choose this model for its combination of removable battery, wider view and connected features. We have not tested detection reliability or battery life at your property, and the weather rating does not make it suitable for immersion.
