Choose storage before recording
The linked package is diskless. Add a compatible surveillance hard drive and suitable cameras before expecting a complete recording system. Local recording can keep footage on your own hardware, but it still needs a sensible retention plan and periodic checks that recording actually works. Place the recorder where cables reach comfortably and ventilation remains clear, with a monitor available for initial setup.
Match the hardware revision
RLN8-410 has existed in several revisions. Current N7MB01 documentation allows larger drives and newer camera combinations than older versions, while the checked listing does not guarantee a hardware number. Confirm the delivered revision in system information before ordering expansion storage. Applying a current specification to every older RLN8-410 would give the wrong capacity and compatibility expectations.
Count cameras, not just sockets
Eight PoE sockets do not mean every supported configuration is limited to eight entries. Current N7MB01 guidance allows eight wired-powered cameras plus four supported battery Wi-Fi cameras, or twelve supported battery cameras. Model and firmware support still matter, and battery-camera behaviour is not automatically continuous recording. Check the recorder’s supported-device list for each exact camera you intend to connect.
Plan the network and display
The current specification lists 10/100 networking, HDMI output up to 4K and a separate VGA connection. Recording a high-resolution stream does not mean every view is displayed or replayed at that resolution simultaneously. Use the PoE rating of each camera when planning power, rather than multiplying the maximum port figure into an assumed system budget. Remote viewing also needs a working network connection.
Make expansion a checked decision
This is useful for a compatible Reolink installation where choosing and maintaining local storage is welcome. It is less suitable when you want a complete camera-and-drive kit or guaranteed support for unrelated cameras. Keep important clips separately before recordings cycle out, and confirm the storage limit for your revision. The table distinguishes the current manufacturer specification from the older hardware that shares this product name.
